Marie Louise Cenatus was born at Dumay in Haiti on January 1, 1939. Known as Maman, Mai, Nana and Grandma by her family and friends, Marie Louise enjoyed the music of Julio Iglesias and Michael Jackson. Everyday at seven pm she was in front of her television watching the Wheel-of-Fortune program.
Marie Louise Cenatus had three children by her husband Mr. Auguste. After being separated from her husband, Marie Louise dedicated her entire life, working hard to raise her children.
A woman of great character and integrity, she made a christian life for herself and her children concentrating on their education and future successes. Believing she could give them more, in 1983 Marie Louise moved to the United States of America with her three children.
On September 26, 2005 Marie Louise Cenatus was diagnosed with cancer. After a long and painful journey that she endured with dignity she lost the fight to cancer. However the Marie Louise Cancer Foundation continues the battle to eradicate the disease and give support to those who are inflicted.
One in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Haitian women are being diagnosed and dying of breast cancer at a much higher rate right here in South Florida.
The Marie Louise Cancer Foundation is dedicated to the provision of services to the medically under-served, uninsured and under-privileged cancer patients and their loved ones.
In fulfilling the mission of the Marie Louise Cancer foundation the community will apply new knowledge to aide individuals and the community as a whole to reduce the incidence and death rate from cancer and related diseases.
Our activities will be geared towards the self development of our members and the community. We will provide extensive community outreach programs, emotional and financial support, education and care of the highest standards to improve prevention, early detection and treatments of cancer.
